Taglines

Taglines

The tagline is one of the four vital components of your branding portfolio, along with your nonprofit's logo, overall graphic look and feel, and positioning statement. A great tagline differentiates you from your competitors while expressing your organization's personality and adding consistency to your marketing and communications.

Taglines are perhaps the most underrated and underused elements of personal and business presence, yet they serve a huge function.

Taglines are your brand’s elevator pitch and help people get a quick snapshot of who you are. It’s your opportunity to be descriptive, catchy, memorable and create a unique brand for your busines either in online or print. They also present a great opportunity for keyword inclusion, but not at the sacrifice of stickiness. Ideally you can combine something catchy and SEO friendly.

The social web has conditioned us to move through content-based sites quickly, and if we reach a site with an unclear thesis we’re likely to click to the next thing. You also can’t count on visitors to read your “about” page. In a world that increasingly moves at 140 characters or less, having a hook such as a clever tagline can make all the difference.
If you have a Twitter account check if not hurry and get one...you inmediatelly will start seeing great examples.

The absence of a tagline – or the use of an ineffective one – will put your business at a competitive disadvantage in funding, building your staff and volunteer base, and increasing use of your programs and products either for profit or non-profit
as your "Name Alone Isn't Enough".

The tagline is part of that instant appraisal by users. It's your golden opportunity to tell a client or web visitor, "yeah. relax. you're right where you need to be. we got you covered. this the print or online presence devoted to practical insights on banana carving [or whatever the business deals with]."
